World follows the stock market through various
index. Performances of various stock markets are followed by these
indices. Remember these indices does not include the performances of
each and every stocks in the market. They select a group of stocks that
represent the market and calculate the index based on the performance
of these selected scripts. World's most important indices are Dow jones
Industrial average, FTSE, Sensex and Nifty
Dow Jones It is one of the world's most popular
stock market indices. It tracks the performances of 30 importantant
stocks in America. These stocks represent the performance of American
stock exchanges. This average consists 30 of the largest and widely
held companies in America. Most famous international American companies
included are Bank of America, Dupont, Cococola,Microsoft, Pfizer etc.
There are companies from every important sectors like Information
technology, Computers, Banking, Pharmaceuticals etc. This helps them to
predict the market very easily. When the index raise the market is on
the rise and when it falls the market is declining.Dow jones Industrial
index does not only provide industrial performance but performances of
all sectors.
BSE Sensex Sensex is the index of
representative of 30 important stocks.It consists of most actively
traded stocks in Bombay Stock Exchange BSE. These companies account for
one fifth of the actual market capitalization of the Bombay stock
exchange. The sensex has improved more than 10 times at this time. The
important shares in the sensex are Bharti Airtel, BHEL, HDFC,ICICI
Bank, RCOM etc.
FTSE Index
FTSE index is managed by
FTSE Group, an independent company originated from the joint venture of
London Stock Exchange and Financial Times. There are various indices in
FTSE like FTSE100, FTSE 30etc. These indices primarily reflect the
performance of London Stock Exchange. FTSE 100 is an index which tracks
the performance of top 100 companies. Most important companies in
FTSE100 are BP, Royal Dutch Shell, HSBC etc. It reflect 80 percent
market capitalisation of LSE. FTSE All share index is the most
comprehensive index but FTSE100 is the widely used Index.
NSE Nifty
Nifty is the index for
National Stock Exchange India. It is also called S&P CNX Nifty. It
consists of 50 large and active stocks traded on National stock
Exchange of India. Active stocks included on Nifty are Reliance
Industries, Bharti Airtel, Larsen and Toubro, Wipro, Infosys
technologies etc. Nifty along with Sensex is the most important
indicators of Indian Economy.
